A boy, 12 years old, sitting on the terrace with his head down. He is sad and insulted, not because of himself but because of the Indian Cricket Team. The taunts he suffered because of them still howl in his ears. "Dont watch the match they are going to lose. They are losers." He is just waiting for the tears to roll down. But they dont. The tears take the form of anger and he rises to practise again. He bowls and probably the fastest, it breaks one of the flower pots. He continues to practise with the hope that one day he will no more have to get insulted, with the hope that one day the Indian Cricket Team will win.
Years passed on and every time the Indian Team lost, he lost a part of his life. He waited and slowly he lost the interest in cricket and a loss for the Indian team meant nothing to him. But still in his heart of hearts he wanted India to win and give a befitting reply to his childhood howls.
This Saturday not only the Indian Cricket Team won the World Cup but they also gave a befitting reply to his childhood howlers. Today the small child inside him no more has to carry the burden of losses. The child inside him is happy and satisfied. Today he can face his childhood taunts and they can "rest in peace" for ever.
